Major Changes Coming to the NCAA

TSA Recruiting has been waiting for weeks to see how the House vs NCAA settlement would play out and we are starting to get some clarity. This is a must read for anyone wishing to play college soccer as it affects every division. The reality is, there will be less opportunities at the NCAA Division I level beginning with the Class of 2025. Although there could be more scholarship dollars available for some recruits, they will be more difficult to secure at the NCAA Division I level moving forward.

We will be hosting a Zoom webinar on Sunday, August 25 at 8 pm CST to discuss how this settlement is going to change college soccer recruiting as we know it and how it may look going forward. Starting with the class of 2025, we are going to see massive changes that I will discuss including.

We will discuss and open up for questions about how recruiting is going to slow down. Coaches still want to see prospects play and evaluate them, but I think coaches will be reluctant to give offers until they get more clarification how their school/conference is going to operate going forward.

  • New Roster Size and Scholarship Limits at the NCAA Division I level and how these new limits will help some programs and cripple others.
  • How some NCAA Division I programs will become basically professional teams and others will be forced to change divisions or even drop their soccer programs.
  • How the new roster size limitations that of 28 that go into effect in the fall of ’25 will force teams to cut players on their current roster and recruit less.
  • How the transfer portal is going to blow up and become an even bigger factor in recruiting.
  • How this will cause a ripple effect – less roster spots at NCAA Division I means more players fighting for spots at NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and JUCO programs and the level of play at these divisions getting even better!
  • If you are already committed to a program or getting serious interest, how you must continue to market yourself as coaches really don’t know how this looks.
  •  How international recruiting will be impacted.
