I have more to share on this topic and have seen it play out across the country. My friends at KIF do a fantastic job here—great data and a lot of thoughtfulness. As someone who helps kids get recruited to play college soccer, a high school soccer coach, a college soccer referee, a former college coach, and a soccer parent, I see this from all sides. I always say: don’t give up the NOW for what might be. In my opinion, there’s too much risk in giving up one of the most rewarding experiences—high school soccer—for the hope of playing college soccer. The only exception might be for the kid who is truly professionally bound or some other circumstances. More to come.
